Avalon Real Estate manages the real property investments of Avalon Capital Group, Inc..

Avalon Real Estate seeks domestic and international investments in opportunistic real estate based transactions. Our mission is to make controlling, value driven investments in unique properties that offer considerable upside potential.  Through our exclusive network of contacts and flexible approach we are able to identify and execute across a broad spectrum of entrepreneurial real estate transactions.   

Avalon Real Estate has made direct investments across a wide range of real estate assets including land, luxury hospitality, multifamily, retail and commercial.  Avalon has also co-invested in strategic joint ventures and operating companies.

Shane Hartnett
Shane Hartnett joined Avalon Capital Group in 2007, and is responsible for the overall management of the Avalon Real Estate portfolio.  Shane focuses primarily on the operations of currently held assets and the evaluation and execution of prospective real estate based investments.  Shane is also a Manager of Avalon Properties Opportunity Fund.  In addition to his responsibilities relating to the Avalon Real Estate portfolio, Shane is closely involved in the strategic and operational oversight of Avalon Capital’s portfolio companies.

Prior to joining Avalon Capital Group, Shane was a Vice President with Gateway, Inc. During his 20 year tenure with Gateway, Inc., he held numerous positions in Operations and Supply Chain Management.  Most notably, Shane was responsible for the development, opening and on-going operations of Gateway’s manufacturing facilities across Asia and North America. 

Joseph Self
Joseph Self joined Avalon Capital Group in 2007, and is primarily responsible for the sourcing, evaluation and due diligence of prospective and current investments for the Avalon Real Estate portfolio.  Joseph is also a Manager of Avalon Properties Opportunity Fund.  In addition to his responsibilities relating to the Avalon Real Estate portfolio, Joseph is actively involved in the quantitative and analytical assessment of Avalon Capital Group’s other non-real estate based investments and prospects. 

Prior to joining Avalon Capital Group, Joseph was an Acquisition Manager with K. Hovnanian Homes (NYSE: HOV) where he was responsible for the sourcing and underwriting of new residential developments as well as aiding in the management of ongoing projects.  Joseph is a member of the Young Leaders program for both the Urban Land Institute and National Association of Office and Industrial Properties.  He graduated with a BA from University of Southern California and a JD from University of San Diego School of Law.
